world-class trainings in Kunming
Located on the shores of Dianchi Lake in southern Kunming, the Haigeng Sports Training Base was established in 1973 and covers approximately 410,000 square meters at an elevation of 1,888 meters. Originally designated by the former National Sports Commission as a dedicated football training facility, Haigeng holds a landmark status in the history of Chinese football and is widely known as the "Cradle of Champions." Facilities. The base currently features 15 to 16 standard football pitches. Among them, Pitch No. 11 is the most renowned, having long served as the exclusive training ground for the Chinese national team. In addition, the base is equipped with a 400-meter track and field stadium, baseball and softball fields, an indoor multi-purpose sports hall (suitable for volleyball, basketball, futsal, and more), a gymnasium, and a bowling alley—providing comprehensive support for teams' physical training and recovery needs. Teams and Usage. For decades, Haigeng has been the primary winter training destination for domestic professional football clubs. Numerous Chinese Super League (CSL) and China League One teams have trained here, including Beijing Guoan, Tianjin TEDA, Henan Jianye, Shenzhen FC, Qingdao Jonoon, and Jiangsu Sainty. Between 2007 and 2012, foreign coaches from CSL clubs gathered at Haigeng for winter training, exchanging ideas in the base's cafeteria and creating a unique "winter training culture." In 2019, Qingdao Huanghai; in 2020, Beijing Sinobo Guoan and Tianjin TEDA—all chose Haigeng as their preferred domestic training venue. For international teams, Haigeng's high-altitude conditions (1,888 m) offer advantages for cardiovascular and endurance development, while Kunming's mild winter climate and tranquil environment make it an ideal training location.
